Chicago cuisine is probably best known for deep dish pizza – not sure why they call it a pizza, it is really more of a pie! But did you know that there is another Italian-inspired American dish that has its roots in the Windy City? That’s right, the ever popular Italian Beef Sandwich was created in the Midwest in good ole’ Chi town. However, as delicious as this hot sandwich is, it is commonly made with low quality beef and cheap, enriched wheat Italian bread. That, however, is not the case for our Italian Beef Sandwich with Sautéed Peppers and Onions.
Our chefs start with premium cuts of grass-fed beef that have been marinated in red wine, farm-fresh tomatoes, crushed garlic and authentic Italian herbs and spices. Next we slow-roast these marinated meats overnight creating a caramelized texture and a full flavored product. These grass-fed roasts are then hand-shredded and paired with a fresh-from-the-oven, gluten-free bun. To keep with the authentic spirit of this dish, we serve it with an ample serving of sautéed peppers and onions seasoned with a hint of red wine vinegar and crushed red pepper.
We think our Italian Beef Sandwich with Sautéed Peppers and Onions is better than the Chicago original, but there is only one way for you to know for sure!
