All entrees from Metabolic Meals are Gluten Free! When we do choose to include grains in our meals, we use rice, gluten free oats, quinoa (a seed) and amaranth. Other carb sources may include sweet potatoes or fruit. Here’s why our program will always be Gluten Free:

It’s estimated that Celiac disease is 4-6x more common now than it was 50 years ago and is often undiagnosed. Many people who are not confirmed to be Celiac, still have an inflammatory response to gluten known as a sensitivity. This can still have a negative impact on your health.

WHAT IS GLUTEN?

Gluten is the protein found in wheat, barley, rye and spelt. These ingredients can be hidden in some of your favorite foods such as: breads, pastas, cereals, desserts, sauces, seasonings and condiments.

HOW DOES GLUTEN DO IT’S DAMAGE?

Gluten attacks the small intestine leading to small holes in the intestinal lining. As a result, small particles of food are allowed to pass into the blood stream which triggers an immune response. The immune system then becomes over active and attacks anything associated with these food particles including the joints.  Many experts suggest that gluten’s effect on the immune system contribute to several modern inflammatory diseases.

DOES GLUTEN EFFECT FAT LOSS?

Many foods that contain gluten will increase insulin production. When the body is inflamed, cortisol will also raise. The concurrent raise of these two hormones triggers the body to store bodyfat. Gluten has also been shown to slow thyroid production which will lower the metabolic rate and cause a decrease in energy. A thyroid deficiency will increase fat gain and negatively effect cognition.
