THE CRAZY CONNECTION

Not a lot of people know how much nutrition can influence disease and inflammatory conditions. The prevalence of such disease and conditions is astonishing. As people float through life accumulating toxins and metabolites with poor choices for food, they end up with these unwanted conditions. Only when these conditions become unbearable does the general population decide to go see a doctor. Problem is these “doctors” usually only treat symptoms of these auto-immune or inflammatory conditions. This is a big mistake. As these symptoms are treated, the general population hasn’t changed the major contributor to the problem, which normally is a hole in their nutrition. So what happens is the symptoms become worse or a mild condition turns into a full blown disease.

One of the best ways to reverse some auto-immune and inflammatory conditions is by meeting with a nutritionist or doctor that has experience clearing certain symptoms and can calm down the inflammatory cycle. Most of these professionals will use nutritional therapy with some supplementation. This is in my opinion the only way to contain and attack certain Auto-immune conditions like IBS and Celiac Disease. With a easy nutrition diary the healthcare provider can determine certain red flags like gluten and fructose.

Gluten is a major contributor to these conditions and abstaining from gluten ingredients can really dampen the inflammatory cycle related to IBS. Now, just like all things that are worthwhile, this is not an instantaneous process. Staying gluten free is a must for the gut to heal properly. This is where lifestyle change is a must with these conditions. And without these lifestyle changes all efforts will leave you frustrated and symptomatic.

Along the same ideas with nutrition affecting auto-immune conditions is how nutrition can excite certain conditions and symptoms. One example being fruit. Now we all know how “good” fruit is for us, with numerous antioxidants and fiber. When a “diet” is prepared with the intention of fat loss, most nutritionists and doctors will recommend tons of fruit and vegetables as a broad reaching way of getting these desirable nutrients. Problem is fruits also contain fructose, a naturally occurring sugar, which in large amounts, can cause a myriad of health issues, ranging from insulin resistance to IBS. I’m not saying that fruits are problems themselves, just when a food is neglectfully recommended at the expense of other foods problems can arise.

When you sit down with a healthcare provider to uncover how to stop your auto-immune issues, look at the broader view of what is causing these problems instead of taking a drug to calm the issues down. This approach to many health related problems is the optimal way to assure that the underlying cause is addressed as opposed to the hap-hazard approach of giving out prescriptions.

Dealing with an auto-immune disorder can be complex in nature, but the right nutritional protocols can have a profound impact on your health. A diet with ample amounts of organic meat and vegetables should be your foundation. Allow yourself moderate amounts of healthy oils such as fish, extra virgin olive, avocado and coconut can help lower inflammation associated with many auto-immune diseases. Limit fruit intake to 1 serving per day and opt for nutrient dense varieties such as berries. Finally, it’s imperative that you eliminate gluten from your diet. By implementing the above recommendations, it’s very possible that you see a decrease in symptoms, less inflammation and more energy.
